I really like this analysis (see cut below), Mark.
It reminds me of an apocryphal story my sister tells about these lesbians
who live in an off-grid community (no services at all) of about 20 women, a
real place she herself lives in during the Summer months each year, in New
Mexico in a real oasis in the desert hills outside Santa Fe.
It’s in a beautiful small wooded valley with a steam down its center.
Outside the valley’s hills is all desert. I’ve visited, but no men are
allowed to live there. I’ve never seen children there (at this point in
time most of the women there are beyond that age), but my sister tells me
of women raising kids w/o TV, and no toy weapons. But (I’m sure you’ve all
heard this before) the boys invariably start making their own toy guns.
This apocrypha is probably just a universal experience.
