Attention Warren Zevon fans!

Yep, that would be why I was looking for the liner notes to begin with—that's actually my page on Zevon & Pynchon. Allan sent me a photo of the actual notes; he was very kind, so now they are online. For anyone interested in more Zevonian Pynchon connections, his library was put on auction to raise money for charitable causes. And one of those books is a first-edition copy of "Vineland." (The page has a picture and link.) According to his ex-wife Crystal, warren Zevon was a "true Pynchon fan"....

An excerpt from the liner notes is quoted here:

"Woozy from reading the Thomas Pynchon canon at a sitting, so to speak, I
conceived of Transverse City as a multilayered cyberpunk album. This track,
with several simultaneous vocal lines including a list of carcinogens in
the environment I got from the Sierra Club, suggests the dense texture I
was striving to create when I ran out of Virgin’s money. We sent the
24-track tape to David Gilmour in London, and he recorded his leads and
sent it back."
