Not Pynchon once again. (who it will never be) But another blow against empires. More refugees in the world than even at the end of WW2.

A newspaper interviewed Tua Forsström, the one Finnish member of the
Swedish Academy, after Gurnah's win. She was asked which of Gurnah's novels
the uninitiated should start with.
"Paradise is a fantastic novel. Go and get it immediately. In addition, I
want to highlight two other novels, namely By the Sea and Gravel Heart."
In the interview, Forsström considers The Last Gift (2014) a minor work.
"But for an author with Abdulrazak Gurnah's literary qualities, even a
minor work is brilliant."
