here. The answer to the next question (Have you read his new book, *Gravity's
Rainbow*?) is also worth quoting: When books are enormously thick, you say:
›Well, do I have a month of my spare time to give to this?‹ So I haven't
read *Gravity* yet. I may, though. I haven't read *J R* either. They sit
inside my shelves, threatening me with their sheer size.
