Just to point out the Japanese as a people were quite impressed with the
Marshall Plan;
(Those that were not blown up at Hiroshima or Nagasaki)
But still - they were seriously nasty in WWII, but isn’t there extensive
documentation on how surprising they found their postwar treatment & how
much for the better it changed their society?
And Germany also, right?
Hopefully there’s a PowerPoint in war colleges for postwar mercy - tho W
seems to have mislaid it w/r/t Iraq, more’s the pity - And Carter forgot
about it w/r/t Vietnam which still has land mines lying around & agent
Orange casualties.
But there is a non-negligible hopeful precedent - ijs!
Eschewing the revenge ethic is the road to profit. Remember how
unsatisfying Reef found shooting Sloat.
