Pynchon at the Beach

Just as an aside I read all the big books last year and have read the rest
except for IV which I plan to re-read after finishing a few other books on
the pile (I do recommend Venomous Lumpsucker by Ned Beauman--a futuristic
novel about the 'extinction industry' which has a Matt Ruff feel but folks
here will probably enjoy; just started Vladimir Sorokin's Telluria). My
sense is we can get a good idea where and what Pynchon was up to IRL by
what he dropped into each book. There are clues everywhere. But you knew
that.
on an another note: the trailer for Baumbach's take on White Noise left me
scratching my head--I get it's just a first look but it feels or suggests a
Hollywood 80s Godzilla disaster movie. I'm not sure how DeLillo's satire
translates to film and I consider WN satire. the trailer exudes such
seriousness which I hope doesn't get all the attention. DD is at his best
mixing the humorous with the profound--I'd be shocked and disappointed if
the former wasn;t given its due. Don Cheedle as Murray Suskind gives me
some hope
