The ladies get back to Manhattan, find Larday waiting at Tallis’s digs, she
shows him the door fairly conclusively.

Horst has been worried about her, not just jealous. Although he is jealous.

Knockout blow to his insecurities - well, it would be if he thought about
it & were sure she meant it:

<There is nobody but you, Horst. Emotionally challenged fuckin ox. Never
will be.”

One tiny unblocked Horstical receptor is able to pick up this
message for what it is, so he doesn’t lapse totally into Midwest Ricky
Ricardo after all“>

There’s a jump cut via a description of the blip wreaked by the vircator
test, and viola! we’re at Tallis & Avi’s place. Avi comes home glad of
impending well-compensated layoff.

Since March is also there, and squabbly, Maxine suggests the 3 ladies
adjourn to more neutral chez Loeffler-Tarnow for takeout.

Advising Horst it’s an all-girls night & that she’s taking the Impala, they
head out to March’s place, which apparently she does still have,
self-generated rumors of unhoused status notwithstanding.

But then old Ice shows up to say he’s keeping their son & there’s a
standoff with Maxine pulling the Beretta to cool his jets temporarily.
March throwing curses & insults from the Impala, they pull away & spend the
night sleeping in the car in the parking garage…just in case Ice is twice
as murderous in the aftermath & has drones out after them

in the AM Horst is crashing on the couch & she joins him - seeing her state
of fatigue, Ziggy & Otis walk to school without her & she lets them.
