More troops at border not fewer

Interesting that in the opinion of some countries other than Russia (e.g.
Moldovia, Georgia and Ukraine) are not allowed to restore control over
their respective territories and labled "aggressors" when trying to do so,
while Russia has always insisted on nobody even uttering a word of
criticism after them carpet bombing Grozny when smashing the Chechen
uprising.
Where's the difference? In the first three mentioned countries the
minorities who have allegedly resisted their respective governments were
Russian or pro Russian and were hence "protected" by Russia (some say:
armed and sent to the front by Russia).
Again, double standards if you've ever seen any.
By the way: that Russian politics over the last 4 centuries have lead to a
"post colonial" situation in former soviet republics now is indeed a
problem hard to come by. But as other former colonial powers' experience
has shown, the worst thing to happen is ethnic groups related to the former
colonial powers exhibiting a kind of Herrenmenschen mentality and demanding
special rights and privileges, which - if granted - would often have lead
to far-reaching consequences. Former colonies need to have the right to
form new national identities; and while basic minority rights should be
granted, they have every right to expect some degree of respect and
obedience from ethnic minorities.
