Yeah and maybe that’s what’s meant - but - regardless of management
structure or lack thereof - I want to know how that usage of “babe in the
window” imagery can be said to relate to how Tallis used it: to connote or,
like, illustrate, the wilful keeping of her, Tallis, in ignorance of
certain financial details, by her husband and CEO, Gabriel Ice.

I don’t think it can.

Further, neither Google nor I has a better idea, so maybe we are to take
Tallis as also with this phrase “playing dumb” and deliberately
malaprop-ing “babe in the woods?”

Maxine doesn’t buy it, at any rate.
