DISSIDENT VOICE FROM A LIFELONG PEACE ADVOCATE
We thought we could play our big geopolitical game and put more Nato bases closer to Russia but few Americans stood up against that aggression. The threat of violence is violence and the US regulalry uses war against those who neither threaten nor attack us. Several Ukrainian groups in the army and leading the Ukrainian coup are nazis and fly nazi flags.
Do you know how many Russians were killed in WW2 by nazis, how many Jews were killed in Ukraine by Ukrainian nazis, what percent of the German soldiers in WW2 were killed by Russians? Look it up. Maybe this will give you a sense of their concerns. They seized the vital naval outpost and Russian speaking area of Crimea, and defended the Donbass.
Russia asked for Ukraine to return to the MInsk accords and establish a firm comittment to military neutrality. Ukraine refused. Macron tried to negotiate a return to Minsk, was cold shouldered by the US and Zelensky agreed in private then refused agreement in public. A few days ago Macron tried again with an attempt at US involvement but the US refused. Instead we pour in weapons to Ukraine as though it is some kind of generous gift to make them a sacrificial lamb to our geo-political ambitions.
Russia was faced with complete refusal to acknowledge its legitimate security needs. Putin had made it as clear as any red line ever drawn that it was not going to allow the possibility of nuclear weapons 90 miles from Moscow. The US is not the only power that can draw lines or the only power that can use military force to protect interests both real and imaginary.
It is a multipolar world and there are as yet only a few nations united in neutrality and peace. For America to feel morally superior to Russia is a sham, Our military aggressions are far greater since WW2. If free US citizens refuse to work to end nuclear proliferation and refuse to stop voting for 2 war parties and refuse to spend most tax money on military and contine to torture those who expose our crimes, then our moral squealings against the harsh authoritarian systems of Russia and China will be hypocritical noise to no effect. Why isn't there all this anti-war news when America starts a new war or continues to aid the wars in Yemen, Africa, etc. Why no outrage over our many blockades of elected governments or the US control of the oil region of Syria, or our support for military regimes that silence dissent in Turkey, Egypt, Israel, etc.? Our war insanity knows few bounds:Last week a former CIA spook and member of Atlantic Council Matthew Kroenig said this in Forign Affairs. "Finally, if necessary, Washington could always take a page from its Cold War playbook and rely more heavily on nuclear weapons to offset the local, conventional advantages of its rivals ".

Our shared planet should not depend on either young Matty’s oso clever idea of “winning” a nuclear war with Russia or the continued effectiveness of Mutual Assured Destruction.

War is evil and is not ended by great empires with huge armies. It is a way of thinking that affects everything, turns all of creation into resources for our money wars, poisons water and turns forests into deserts. When do we end war? Soon or never. How do we end war? One way is to stop funding it. Search your heart and I promise I will do the same.
