The calls urging Ukraine to compromise with Russia are just like the
so-called realists' calls before the war for Ukraine to not provoke Russia
with NATO membership: they treat Ukraine as a small and unimportant country
that should bend to Russia's will just because it's smaller.

It is not a good look to take away a whole country's agency, especially
while it is under attack and in existential danger, and to not ask
Ukrainians what *they* want. It is, in effect, trying to impose our
will—and our fatigue—on Ukraine, which is, well, imperialism.
