How could we be in Late Capitalism without shopping?

Such wit again in the non-plot chapters, the socially observant ones.
Sensibility, the shooting club. Jane Austen, you don't know.

A polyamory "marriage". Observantly prescient (a little) as books and
articles about it slowly grow. Hey, we have lots of friends, why not friends
with benefits?

P 278....."But it was heaven there, with ukuleles for harps, and sometimes
heaven
has its way"....lightly touching the way these two do fall in love....."A
sort of compassionate
clarity dawned".....nice phrase and I think I've experienced it...

One of TRP's groaners....."the Muffya".

Chandler Platt, ensconced capitalist. Does not want to watch the Stinger
video. Makes a call..

I like "Dig It"....."Chairman Mao piggy banks"...."old-movie confusions"

P. 284......Pynchon writes, thru Chandler, old-fashioned greedy Republican
of the change
in Republicans...the new ideologists "it's almost a religious thing now,
the millenium, the end days, no
need to be responsible anymore."......

Then the MYSTERIOUS plot point: ..."as if they know already what's going
to happen. This....event.
They know and they're not going to do anything about it" ???
