IMO, playing into the fear of the nuclear cloud is precisely what Poutine
is playing upon. "I'm crazy and can prove it, so watch out or I might have
a tantrum." Sounds like a child who has figured out how to bully his
parents into submission. "I refuse to go to bed now, and if you make me, I
will set the bedroom on fire! And if you restrain me, I will phone Child
Services and report you as abusive parents! So there! Can I stay up late to
watch Late Night, or would you prefer to meet in court?"

This is the dilemma facing most parents of young children in the Western
World.

And while I'm ranting, I should also toss in a rant about how children are
beimg raised -- praise everything and criticize nothing. That teaches kids
every wrong lesson in life. Not everything youdo is Wonderful, Sarah. In
fact the opposite is true: most everything you try will end in failure, or
at best, average. Grow used to it. This notion that "within every child is
the spark of genius, as yet undiscovered." Simple statistics rule out that.
Precisely half the people in the world are below average in intelligence.
That is a purely statistical conclusion, regardless of one's particular
value system. Consider its alternatives, such as, say, 70% are above or
below Average Intelligence. Clearly this exposes the fly in the ointment,
the flaw in the argument.We also have to include the notion of Median,
which differs from Average in significant ways
