Some of us, I'm remembering Morris and I, going back and forth
on the theme and meaning of anarchism in Pychon's vision. The original
meaning of the word before
the Haymarket Affair enabled the Powers That Were to label anarchists as
"bomb-throwing" rather than
as virtual precursors to Gandhian organically organized non-violence.

How generalizable as a real way to govern was what Morris and I went back
and forth on re
original anarchism. Morris and I agreed that many who thought it an actual
political platform-like possibility, like Robert Paul Wolff, who did argue
that, were plain wrong.....
(I heard a professed anarchist, Richard Kostelanitz, a brilliant guy, see
his early critical stuff, who moved into trivial wrongness in art and
thinking later imo, state on a panel that the American Civil War might not
have happened or would have ended quicker and better if anarchists were
running the country--crazy, right? Pynchon tidbit, I suggested he read AtD,
new enough then and he told me later he could not get past 200 pages...)

That as a useful meaning anarchism  meant the self-organizing of small
groups. Full democratic decision-making, the way the Occupy movement ran
meetings and made decisions, it has been reported.  I have experienced it
and experienced
how it does come up against the system. Small non-profit I organized with
others NEEDS board hierarchies
filed with the IRS in order to even get 501 (c) (3) non-profit status, for
example....

But this post is to say, as Zelensky must work within the international
system of course, of course, that system
secures the crime against his country; that system secures his defense and
help from just-war-minded nations against international
criminals, he is also running his city, his whole country NOW in an
improvised self-organized way.....every day, he and his
team must make life and death decisions; spontaneously make just law as it
were and act on it; every day there is no gravity-wrapped
old oppressive system to work within beyond the above. Every dawn is
rosy-fingered and new to what now must be discovered to be done. For the
good of all
in his country; for the good of his country; for the saving of democracy
everywhere.

Pynchon's expansive 'anarchic' vision knows this.
