I think what is interesting about a "world-changing event" is the way
anything no matter how loosely connected to said event takes on meaning,
the mundane suddenly imbued with significance. BE is filled with such
things, the example in this chapter the cryptic wording of Platt's intern.
Isn't he in Deep Archer mode while Maxine is leaving, standing at the
window, staring? It all may just mean nothing. and we're back to that GR
notion of nothing connected to anything, a state we can't suffer for too
long. I'll have more on this as we move into later chapters
