On International Jazz Day, a thread on the shared history between jazz and
U.S. diplomacy.

Louis Armstrong. Billie Holiday. Duke Ellington.  You know them as
legendary jazz musicians. But you might not know that they were also
ambassadors.

As another jazz ambassador, Dave Brubeck, told an audience in Eastern
Poland, “No dictatorship can tolerate jazz. It is the first sign of a
return to freedom.”
