it's irking me that all these main reviews are reviewing both novels, the
one that's out (The Passenger) and the one that's not (Stella Maris)
together, spoiling the effect intended (which I think is to hold out some
mystery to be resolved, or not, in the second book). I'm not reading any
more reviews until December, after I can read Stella Maris.
I finished The Passenger on Sunday, it is an excellent novel, I highly
recommend it. It is by turns frightening, provoking and funny; just my
thing.
The final 20% or so is some of the most beautiful sustained prose about
human uncertainty & difficult nature I've read maybe ever.
So it's got that going for it.
