I hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. For reasons not exact;y clear to me I've taken upon myself to re-read Gravity's Rainbow. It shouldn't be much of a mystery as it is one of my favorite books (Houellebecq's Elementary Particles & Celine's Death on Credit with Herodotus's Histories being thrown in for good measure) but the Pokler passage has always moved me... In my younger days quite often to tears... Lost love and the thought about what might have been (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03_KcrY7vcw)... Mind fucked by employers... and lost in technical abstraction... though probably not quite to the extent of our protagonist, but I'm sure most of us have had to deal with Weissmann-like creatures in our day-to-day...
