I am deeply sorry to have insulted you with my error of casually glossing
over contexts. Insult was not at all my intent. I prefer to think that
people are free to disagree with specifics in such glosses. I don't listen
to t.v. and radio (except about 10 mins of npr en route to work and back
four days a week), don't read magazines much, and spend little time on the
internet outside of work. That my little glosses sounded like
pronouncements to you surprised me. My intent was merely to acknowledge
what I have encountered elsewhere in passim without going into long
redundancies and finding those conversations, lectures, interviews, essays,
and articles. Figured everyone was already pretty savvy to all that and no
deeper exploration was necessary. I understand, now, that I said both too
much and too little. I erred, and I apologize. I shall attempt to be more
mindful of the sensitivities of others engaged in this forum in the future
by documenting my sources, providing greater context for details, and
omitting summaries and details that require such substantiation.
