In my Roth Lifelong Learning class we are reading two of Roth's fifties
novels--finished one, *When She Was Good *and are now on
another *Letting Go---*and all seem to agree that Philip captured this
remark of Tom's about the fifties pretty well in these books....
the sense of social solidification is a theme.
and everyone seemed to agree with
Tom's remark when I brought it to the class....
The sixties brought not only change but *the feeling of change. *
