Prophecy in GR: Gus Mitchell on Pynchon

The End of the World (as we know it) happens on a regular basis.
Typically, those EOTWs (the end of THOSE worlds) happen about a generation
or so before their primary occupants pass away.  EOTWs typically  happen
without so much is a whimper. Mostly they are just forgotten from disuse.

Deities pass away in a similar manner.
