Pynchon's place...

Again, now this REALLY sounds like hyperventilation:

1. Student “A”, looking at social media site, sees comments “threatening”
to the Jewish community with specific reference to a Jewish residential
“House” at Cornell. No report yet that I have seen provids quotes of these
messages. [There is a difference between threatening messages and
messages that make one “feel “ threatened (despite the times we’ve in)]

2. Student “C” learns about the messages third-hand, and reports them via a
letter to the campus population. The police learn about the messages via
this student’s letter (not directly from the student).

3. Lots of triggering ensues, and lots of PR. Cornell cancels Friday
classes due to “extraordinary stress,” but no *manifestations* of *widespread
campus stress* are reported. Ostensibly, the fact that the unnamed student
hadn’t yet been arrested was a major concern.

4. Offending student is arrested, *but not yet charged with any crime*. Are
classes still canceled for tomorrow?

Cornell student population is over 23 thousand. Cancellation of all
classes for reports of the “stress level” (vague, at best) seems like
OVERKILL.

Speaking of killing, when I was a student at Cornell, *every year* a
significant number of students jumped to their deaths into the gorges on
the campus, because their stress levels from workload, and their impending
failure and expulsion loomed. Maybe Cornell should pay a little more
attention to that.
