The whole sick crew, hello!

I’ve been away from the List for a spell—partly because I got a new job and it was all-consuming for a bit, partly for personal reasons, and partly because I was burned out on politics—so I thought, “What a better time to return than now, when the world is completely peaceful and there’s nothing controversial happening and no one on any side of any particular ideological issue could possibly offend anyone?” This is the right time to return, right?

Well, I also have something to post. A filmmaker named Jeff Brown has kindly allowed me to host his marvelous piece on Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, “Inherent Vice.”

I thought this might interest a few of you, as Brown himself is an avid enthusiast of Pynchon, Gaddis, DeLillo, et al. The piece has been brewing for several months now, and includes a playlist!
