New Kubrick bio mentions he was intrigued by Lot 49 while making 2001 in 1967. Of course Kubrick had loads of projects come across that big brain of his. Book also suggests he may have read V as well. 
Pretty impressive the range of literary and artists Kubrick came in contact with over the years. Of course he annoyed all of them
