Not P but DFW: Nut

The following excerpt is from David Foster Wallace’s *The Broom of the
System*, Chapter 11, Section i:

Do I look all right?” Lenore said to LaVache.
“Nut,” LaVache said. “Help me up, please.”

What does "Nut" mean here?

LaVache is Lenore's brother, he is missing a leg and needs help to stand
up. They were talking and there were people coming, that's why Lenore was
asking.
