I think the rumors about it being an adaptation of Vineland are just
rumors.

According to the IMDb page it's a crime/drama/thriller with the logline:

When their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of
ex-revolutionaries reunites to rescue one of their own's daughter.

And Pynchon isn't credited as the writer of adapted material.
