De gustibus, etc.
Me, I might give OBAA a miss, much as I like Sean Penn - I picture Zoyd much younger - and changing his name to Lt Col Lockjaw?
It sounds like it’s going to be a testosterone-charged action-adventure which, must admit, I like as much as the next person, but Zoyd’s a musician, a person of peace, and the revolutionary shtuff was all DL & Frenesi. Girlie with a gun! Kunoichi attentives! Leaving out the best parts!
Too mucho macho, sausage-fest (which again, nothing against that per se)
Plus, the book is still always better than the movie
PTA heresy: I hated There Will Be Blood so much (right down there with Godfather & Glengarry Glen Ross - it just sucked…no fun at all…no simpatico characters…no relatable romance…no humor…no witty dialogue…just Adfus) that the only other of his films I’ve seen is IV which I admit was pretty good
If OBAA is Vineland PTAified so much they couldn’t even keep the title…meh… but there is a movie premiering Sept 26 I’m looking forward to: Gabby’s Dollhouse, with Kirsten Wiig, Gloria Estefan, and cats both live and animated.
Takes all kinds to make a world - hope those who see OBAA enjoy it (including, maybe, me, eventually, after watching Gabby’s Dollhouse, Fantastic Four, some Bollywood & Telugu films, and maybe Superman again - the new Superman is pretty great, with Nathan Filion as Green Lantern - got a Regal pass, 25$ a month for unlimited movies)
