William Gass has come up on this list but not recently if my memory
serves....I tried to read this when published but....gave up.

One thing that is interesting is how Dalkey Archive Press has
republished this with a full court press effort. Like trying to launch it
into the Canon, into posterity as a masterpiece anew.....to get it read and
to keep it being read....
