Horthy - was appointed Regent in 1920 — while Terike was "still a girl" Let's say 10 ?

There's probably a chronology in ST; I was thinking by the time we get to ch 39 we're in the late thirties, but I'm starting to think not - all the action in Chicago, New York (Detroit and it's all on the same street...your typical city involved in a typical daydream...) and the ocean liner, a-and Budapest, so forth - all that could be in the same year, really. Which is probably 1931.

That'd make Terike 21 in ch 24.  I'm reminded of the skateboard courier YT in Neal Stephenson's novel Snow Crash. She was only 15 during that action. Motorcycle courier probably isn't as hypothetically youth-skewed as skateboard courier (Ace's description gives him some years for sure) - but 21 for her doesn't seem unreasonable. It's a little young for Hicks - I still lean towards also-a-little-young-for-Hicks Daphne as a love interest, but I'm willing to get intrigued by Terike.

"Terike" is apparently a diminutive of Theresa.

"For years she thought she'd been named after the Empress Maria Theresa.

"When she was fifteen [apparently some time after 1920 when she was still a girl] not the best time to be finding out, her mother admitted that it was really after Ste. Therese de Lisieux, known as "the Little Flower."
