Doubtless I will regret this further engagement with people and ideas I do not respect. But here goes.

Democratic nations don’t rob their people by the billions, ( read the latest news from Ukraine). Democratic leaders don’t cancel elections knowing they are widely unpopular and hated, don’t destroy dissident news outlets or opposing partiesengagement Decent societies don’t wear nazi symbols and celebrate collaborators with Hitler or the murder of Poles, Russians, Moldovans etc. , don’t come to power in a murderous US sponsored coup, don’t start or make war on their own citizens or seize churches. Honorable nations don’t sign treaties they intend to break.

They were internationally viewed as a corrupt kleptocracy and there were articles in both Euro and Us press about the continued heroizing of white supremacy, Banderas and other fascists.

The Ukrainians attacked the Donbass long before Russia intervened. Their power to do this came through the violent overthrow of an elected government and in defiance of the Ukrainian constitution. .They are the primary aggressors and immediately turned their attention to those Oblasts who refused the legitimacy of the coup. Meanwhile the most totalitarian and warlike entity on earth, the USA, often assisted and joined by by NATO nations, before the special military operation, was supporting Ukraines attack on its own citizens and talking about breaking Russia into smaller entities and crippling their economy. Russia has been attacked 3 times through the Ukrainian borderland and in WW2 lost 25 million fighting the Nazis and fascist Ukrainians. Considering US history of aggression, and the constant expansion of NATO along Russias border Russia as very real and legitimate concern about their survival. Russia’s first move was basic defense of the nation, they seized their long time major port, Crimea, with over 90% support from Crimeans. What would the US do if a major port and military base where 90% of the people saw themselves as Americans. were claimed by a powerful competitor.

Russia continues to support Putin for a reason, their nation was far worse off in their experiment with US favored leader, Yeltsin, than they have been under Putin, who has vastly reduced the power of the oligarchs and crime, presided over a healthy and steadily improving economy, and has proven his country more than formidable in his proxy war with NATO and resistance to US led color revolutions. Considering US and Ukraine history their very serious concerns make perfect sense to me. But still they were ready even after their initial military success, to settle for a return to Minsk: No Nato, no foreign military, and back to pre coup constitutional rights for the Oblasts. . Boris J killed that plan, promising weapons and victory.( psst, you will be rich and an international national hero, you who once pretended to play piano with your dick for TV laughs) . Now he is caught with his pants still down again, surrounded by his thieving pals. Ukrainians flee to avoid conscription and an early grave. The war is unalterably lost and the west still does not have hypersonic missiles or any real plan other than give more money to the war profiteers who bribe us , your glorious brave leaders, fighting to the last Ukrainian It’s called real politic and it’s a bitch when you spend hundreds of thousand of lives and still lose militarily and economically. The US UK alliance has now resorted to pure terrorism, murder people in a nightclub, try to drone Putin’s residence, try to get Russia to go after someone in the UK or NATO or Zelensky, but what then? Nuclear war. A full scale conventional war accross Europe? All because we want missile bases in Ukraine?

Meanwhile the US has moved steadily further in its global and domestic surveillance apparatus, its concentration of wealth and power through bribery and lies, and has presided over one horrifying slaughter after another, enacting a continuous rampage of coups, death squads, wars of aggression, war crimes , economic resource extraction, oil slicks and torture from Lumumba to Iraq and Syria where we hired Isis to save the day,. It’s all public record along with the graft and war profiteering. Now political leaders here and in Germany, UK, Belgium, France, Netherlands refuse to face the moral and legal reality of the most flagrant war crimes and international aggression by US empowered Israel since Iraq, Vietnam, Cambodia, Chile, El Salvador, Libya, and Afghanistan( Oh gee, those were US made bloodbaths too, Hmm). These so called opponents of crimes against humanity do nothing as hospitals are bombed, children shot through the head, prisoners raped and tortured, land & water stolen in the west bank thousands murdered in a place legally protected for Palestinians by international UN law. Your appeal to law is meaningless in light of this history. And Russia whose, history is far less aggressive and militarized, and who has formed economic relations good for all parties, including Germany and others, and just keeps asking for equal security against aggression is treated as the most monstrous evil on earth, not so secretly because they destroyed the European Reich, humiliated Germany, won the Crimean War with England, and cant be humiliated and pushed around like every lapdog in the EU.

I do not love any government, period. I believe the world will only survive through mutual aid, ecological sanity , bio-regionalism and a steady movement away from hierarchies of concentrated power enforced by violence and fossil-fuel addiction.. But people have a local and linguistic and cultural identity and the Russian identity is strong...indeed stronger since abandoning the Soviet empire and returning to their own strong-man version of orthodox christian civilization. Not my cup of tea, but I’m Irish, Taoist, an artist, oppose all wars of aggression and colonial rape, don’t like being told what I can say or think, and I personally find the UK and US racist imperial history far more disgusting than post Stalin Russia. ( Even Stalin at least played a major role in defeating the Nazis). I do not think there are no fascists in Russia , there are criminals in most societies, the west and US has a long history of fascists. But Putin I find to be reasonable, intelligent, historically informed and willing to build mutually beneficial relations while refusing to be bullied by the US or let fellow Russian people be butchered and bombed by Nazis. . His press conferences are more informative and real, than anything I see among western leaders, who when they, on rare occasions, sound intelligent and morally sympathetic , like Tony Blair or Bill Clinton or Barak Obama, , turn out to have hidden allegiances to the worst criminal activities of the imperialist agenda they serve. I think the critical difference is that Putin loves and works for mother Russia more than or at least as much as for himself, makes good on his promises, is open and reliable, and is very slow, calculated and persuasive in his decisions. He is the right person for Russia and there are US conservatives and liberals who have moved to Russia and feel it a safe, family and community oriented society. That is just the truth of humans who made a rare decision. The hero whistleblower lauded by Laura Poitras, Ed Snowden, has stayed safe there and makes important commentary about western surveillance. Solzhenitsen and Dimitri Orlov were doing fine in the US but returned home to be part of the public discourse in Russia. As the world heats up , the vast northern inland land mass of Russia may become a last refuge of ecological stability and reliable food production, not that the soviet practices have not trashed ecosystems earth similarly to un-checked western industrialism

Your cartoon of propaganda and totalitarian social structures is laughably naive and can easily be pointed at anti-Russia propagandists or propaganda for Ukraine as some innocent fair skinned egg-painting victims of pure un-provoked aggression. Nothing can hide the bare facts of what is going on here. The propaganda you endorse has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and Russians and those who led the way are not heroic fredom fighters , but kleptocrats hiding nothing under the emperor's invisible robes. Most of this proceeds in utter transparency as pure political scapegoating of that old reliable 'evil empire’ deployed once again by Bush era Neo-Cons, just like in the good old days for domestic and imperial war profiteering , resource wars, and destruction of any alliance that might challenge and expose the emptiness of the phony currencies and self destructive greed of a dying empire. As Joe Lauria put it, we are on the cusp of a choice that cannot later on be fixed. It is a choice between Mutual Aid as a model of humanity proposed by the great anarchist thinker and activist Peter Kropotkin , or maybe the Sermon on the Mount, and the absurdity of Mutual Assured Destruction, glowing like the mesmerizing beauty of “the final solution” or as the 'Samson option ‘ of sickos like Bibi Netanyahu, and living on in the highest reaches of Military 'thinkers ‘ after 75 years of literal MADness. We can’t lose, Hollywood is on our side, e are the heroes, the John Wayne of the world, immune to hydrogen bombs, immune to hypersonic missiles, immune to bullets from Vietnamese peasants, Afghans.

A few years into the proxy war, after the elections in the Donbass, the brilliant weirdo and fan of the fascist, technocracy- theorist Curtis Yarvin, Elon Musk made a very intriguing suggestion on lately acquired X. It concerned the war and the elections in the Donbass. The gist of it was this: OK maybe the majority actually have a legitimate right to choose how they will govern themselves and who they wish to be aligned with, and the proper role of the nations of the world is to step in and negotiate a free election monitored by all where the people choose for themselves what government they want (a proposition common to the American, French, Algerian, Nicaraguan, Vietnamese and other peaceful and violent revolutions ). In Musk’s case he is attached to the idea of techno states where people’s main choice is to choose what corporate state they prefer to live in. So maybe he wanted to see if that kind of idea might catch on. In any case it sounded like a remarkably democratic and sensible way to settle what the people of Eastern Ukraine actually wanted.( I’m really not a Musk fan but he does think for himself and it sounded like a good idea that might gain followers. The response honestly shocked me. Only those who were indifferent or democratically interested to see what voters would choose supported the idea( were they thinking of their own local choices?) Those who were claiming the Russian elections were rigged did not want an attempt at an internationally monitored election to know the true will of the people. They appeared sure the Ukrainian government would lose. Of course they were almost surely right about that. But they were adamant that that election was stolen or a product of threat and like Trumpers would never give in to mere evidence provided by a fair election. My sense is that Musk didn’t honestly know how it might go. The truth is that the people of Luhansk and Donetsk knew who was attacking them and who was defending them, knew where the bombs were coming from no matter how little attention those attacks on non-military cities got in the western press.

It is impossible to reconstruct many of my sources on this topic. Search engines no longer provide a full range of opinions or articles, it’s just page after page of the same message. Zionist fascists, and Trump fascists, and Starmer fascists, and Macron Fascists and Lindsey Graham fascists, and Joe Biden fascists Anthony Blinken fascists and Narco Rubio fascists and CNN fascists and NYT fascists have bought it all. The future’s so bright I gotta wear shades.

Shadows are fallin' and I've been here all day
It's too hot to sleep and time is runnin' away
Feel like my soul has turned into steel
I've still got the scars that the sun didn't heal

There's not even room enough to be anywhere
It's not dark yet, but it's gettin' there
