Archive of our own has some M&D not-my-type-of-thing manlove vignettes, but also there's a Dragonball story "in the style of Thomas Pynchon", and a 100,000+ word mashup of Kim Possible & GR to which 13 readers gave kudos.
Daphne walks out of wherever it is they're pursuing the conversation they started in ch25, walks out on his protestations of how difficult the aftermath of their night on the water way back when...he's supplying almost certainly exaggerated descriptions of what it did to his reputation when the word got around:
"And of course everybody in M'waukee knew all about the speedboat." (Daphne)
"Not from me." (Hicks)
"No," Daphne nodding, "from me actually, and so what?"
"So I had to put up with Ole Evinrude remarks, job offers from undercover G-men for midnight hooch runs and booby-hatch crash-outs. Had me starting to feel like Fairbanks Junior or something...."
So she walks out on this diatribe -
" - where you going?" (Hicks)
"If I wanted a fifteen-minute sob story, I'd have the radio on, wouldn't I?"
Which is pretty ironic, since she herself just delivered at least fifteen minutes of such narrative.
There's a jump cut here, laconically leaving how he knows to go to her hotel, and when to go, to the reader's imagination.
About ready to move to ch25; brief note that here on p205 is another mention by Daphne of herself as "an off-and-on praying person".
Me, when I think about rich people, I rarely imagine them praying (except Rockefeller Sr in his Sunday School Teacher mode, when he would've led the class in prayer; somewhere there's a description of him, in his first flush of success, dancing around and singing "I'm going to be rich!" which is more how I picture him) - but it's mentioned often enough (3 times so far, or more?) w/r/t Daphne that it opens a mental Shadow Ticket to occasionally think about rich people praying.
