. . . one night with sleep out of the question, in a turbulence and drift of multiple
unlikelihoods, she and Bruno meet up.
At Night of the World, inspired by the multi-floor cabarets of Berlin, what circles of
depravity may be found do not rise from street level but instead go corkscrewing down
beneath it, ten floors down it’s said, ten known of and more rumored, down through
mineral springs, toward ancient depths few have been willing to dare, each with its own bar
and dance band and clientele.

This is interesting. Some of the references in Shadow Ticket are historical, obscure,
relevant—like Vito Guardalabene, first known crime boss in Milwaukee:

But looking up “Night of the World” in Budapest did not link to an historic “Night of the
World” bar, but something far more interesting:
. . . Everyone talks about the ‘City of Lights’ thing, and yes, the Parliament glowing gold over
the Danube is a vibe it’s like living on a movie set. But if you want the real Budapest
nightlife here is what you can expect. Let’s be honest if you haven’t stumbled out of a
graffiti-covered courtyard at 4 AM wondering how you ended up sharing a pizza with a group
of strangers, you haven’t actually seen Budapest. This isn’t a city where you just „go for a
drink” it’s a place where the architecture is crumbling, the neon is blinding, and the party
never seems to have an ‘off’ switch. While the Parliament glowing over the Danube makes
for a great postcard, the real soul of the night is hidden in the back alleys of the Jewish
Quarter and the underground haunts of the 8th district. Forget the polished brochures
here’s the unfiltered reality of how to survive and thrive in Europe’s wildest nightlife capital.
