The story was reported in yesterday's (Wednesday, April 20th) NY Times. Nothing much in the way of detail, folks. And 1996 seems a ways off; and we've all heard this sort of thing before. Perhaps the big story here was simply that his editor has moved on to Holt, taking Mr. P. w/ him. That's how I read it anyhow. . . . .
