I don't think your friend would have made the statement about Pynchon as
New Wave Hemingway if she'd read _Lot 49_ first, rather than _GR_. Most
feminists I know consider _Lot 49_ one of the foundational and even
"canonical" books for studies in women's issues as portrayed in AmLit.
I think much the same could be said for _V._. Since _GR_ is as much about
mysticism and oppression and faith as abstraction and technology and
paranoia, if it *is* a men's book, that doesn't leave too many subjects
for whatever she would consider a women's book.
