As I've said before, there IS a tradition for Koopman's "stuff" (which is 
occasionally interesting, as is the case with all other participants).  
Check out der Springer's Sodium-Amytal-induced blatherings (Viking, pp. 
512, 514, 746).  

I've heard before about readers identifying, to varying degrees, with 
characters in favorite novels.  As it's quite easy to breeze by his 
postings, I really don't see what all the commotion is about.  This 
"group" is the sum of its members--let it go where it will.
