Erickson's books are hard going - you have to completely give
yourself up to his writing and just accept what is happening, and
hope it all ties together somehow at the end. They are incredibly
dreamlike,
and move by their own internal (and shifting) logic. At times they
seem contrived, and at others almost like straight transcripts of
dream images that couldn't mean anything to anyone but Erickson. I'm
glad I read them, but I was pretty irritated several times in each
except the first, DAYS BETWEEN STATIONS. However, there are moments
in all his books that will stick in the mind forever, so I'd
recommend him to anyone who hasn't tried his work.
