I had a college prof _heavily_ into Tolkien and Lewis and she had us 
read First and Last Men and Starmaker...I think they were available in 
one volume (then, anyway).  Indeed they are packed full of stuff.  
Interesting books that I'd reccomend.  BTW, I went and read Odd John, 
and actually liked it.  I wouldn't say its as marginal as all that.  
After Fst&Lst Men/ Strmkr I wasn't expecting characterisation a la 
Flannery O'Connor....
