I would answer:
Stick with it. it's worth it. But you almost have to read all four books, in
order. They are actually variations on a theme. Characters recur, as do
events, images, etc.

I think Erickson has said to himself that he's going to keep working on this
idea until he gets it right.

He actually suggests in Arc d'X (I think) that he (the charcter) has written
his last book. Maybe he figures he's gotten it right in Arc d'X. I hope he
isn't done though. Although I'm certainly willing to have him try another
idea/theme.

I'm sure you folks are tired of me talking about Erickson, at least for one
day. Sorry.
