Just checking in again to the list after arrival in Cambridge for a
year as a visiting fellow.
  It seems portentous in some way that the terminal from which I'm
sending this is in the Cavendish Laboratories - as you go out,
passing the Babbage lecture theatre, there's a plaque commemorating
the first Cavendish professor - yes, James Clerk Maxwell.
  The same building has a plaque for another feat of sorting - "who
said sorting isn't work" - Watson & Crick discovering the structure
of DNA on this site. The there's Bletchley down the road . . .
