whoa, nellie.  first off, don't overstate his philosophical 
committment to fascism.  Heidegger was primarily overcome by ambition 
and self-preservative urges when he joined the party.  this is not to 
excuse it (in fact it may be worse to abandon your friend(Husserl) to 
advance your career than because you really believe he's evil...), 
only to suggest that the life=philosophy story ain't that simple.  

Don't discount philosophy, btw.  I agree that Heidegger probably 
makes an ironic appearance in GR, just as Wittgenstein does in V.
