	or, given the signal/noise interpretations of pynchon, this could be
asking: how can i address this data/what is the signal?  how is it called?  i
think there's a lot of truth to the invocation theory as well, which is a 
similar construct in an environment as pantheistic as the environment a 
humanist and data theorist like pynchon must live in.
