 Subject: too many quadratic equations

Thank you for your sentiments earlier, I can't remember what exactly I said
to
you as I was in an algebra-related fog. Here is the following from New York
magazine (1/30/95):

Thomas Pynchon
Age: 57
Occupation: Novelist
Accomplishments: In the past three years, Thomas Pynchon has created three
major works: the introduction to a posthumous collection of Donald
Barthelme's
prose scraps (1992); an essay for The New York Times Book Review on sloth
(1993); and the liner notes to a Spike Jones CD (1994). Each of these was
greeted with the obsessive dissection that accompanied his screaming,
sprawling, encyclopedic, canonical, ostentatiously intelligent 1973 Gravity's
Rainbow.

(. . .from the 100 Smartest New Yorkers)
