To Georg and all others{ interested in new V2 literature: the book
reviewed in NYT for 1-1-95 is _The Rocket and the Reich_ by
Michael Neufeld, from the Free Press (NY, NY) 368 pages, $25.00.
And now for something completely different:

BOOK NOTES

Sarah Lyall
Reclusive author Thomas Pynchon, taking a page from his
near-contemporary and spiritual ancestor, Joseph Heller, has
announced that his next book will be a direct sequel to his
cult classic, _Gravity's Rainbow_. _Rainbow's End_ will feature
all the surviving characters from the original book (as well as
some that didn't physically survive). Set in 1994, fifty years
after the launch of the first V2, the book will trace the
post-War careers of both Force and Counterforce players as they
spread out into the advertising, entertainment and computer fields.
It is rumored tha the hapless Tyrone Slothrop will be resurrected
from whatever dim unravelling he experienced at the end of _GR_
and emerge as a key media personality, perhaps a talk-radio jock
or CNN newscaster with an uncanny ability to "predict" world
troublespots.
The perhaps apocyphal first sentence is thought to be "A wheezing
crepites across the virtul sky."

PS: My computer's wonky. Some typoes above should read
"NEW YORK TIMES" "crepitates" and "virtual"
