Does anybody out there know whatever happened to Jules Siegel? And did
anybody ever check out the letters column in Playboy a coupla months later,
in which a letter appears reading, in its entirety I believe, "Leave Pynchon
alone. He knows what he is about." The signature, paradiddle, is B. Traven's,
who may or may not have been dead by 1977. Love to compare the handwriting on
that note, probably mouldweorping away in some Chi-town warehouse next to
Hef's old sled, with the Pynchon sonnet on the cover of Mead's bibliography,
which Mead found where? Hands? Best, David
