I thought there might be some interest in the obituary from NEWSDAY 7/22/95:

PYNCHON-Thomas R. on July 21,1995, of East Norwich, LI at age 88.  Beloved
husband of Catherine B.  Loving father of Thomas R. Pynchon Jr., Judith B.
Pynchon and John W. Pynchon.  Dear brother of Joseph, of King City OR;
Angeline Roth of Vineland, NJ; and the late William H.C. Also survived by
five loving grandchildren.  Visiting Oyster Bay Funeral Home, 261 South St.,
Oyster Bay L.I. Sunday 3-5 and 7-9 PM.  Graveside service at Memorial
Cemetary of St.John's Church, Laurel Hollow L.I. Monday 10:30 AM.  In lieu of
flowers, donations to the American Heart Association, 365 Willis Avenue,
Mineola, NY 11501 would be appreciated.
