I do not mean to insult, but this approach strikes me as a little
arrogant. Take the Gulf War. I opposed it, I worked on campus
against it, I went to DC and marched against it. Didn't stop the
war, right? Why? Maybe cuz the Oil Companies wanted it this way, I
will grant that as a possibility. but maybe just because a whole lot
of people in this country disagreed with me. thought i was wrong and
da Bushman was right and bugger all with some 19 yr. old jerk. Now
it's possible they are 1) in league with the conspiracy or 2) stupid.
The first is unrealistic (140,000,000 conspiracists? dontcha think
we'd have seen a newsletter or something?)..which leaves us with the
second. That the oil companies and other institutions have their way
with people's heads...except for my head, of course, cuz i'm smarter
than the masses, middle America, I guess. I can see right thru them.
There is a 3rd option: that the conspiracy is so subtle, it is
nothing at all, only the world, which as Wittgenstein says and TRP
quotes "Is all that is the case"...

It is this kind of arrogance which has doomed the left to the
academy, unfortunately. It makes kute theory, but bad politics...

Hmmm, well, I think that TRP's philosophy is no dalliance and that
the ambiguous Zone between designed meaning and the random, anarchic
and free, is where the meat of the matter is...

but then, we disagree...
