Personally, I can't believe the tabloids had the self-restraint to stay away
and I doubt they did.
If Pynch was there, don't be surprised if a blurry telephoto shot of the man
shows up somewhere soon. Remember all those photos of Salinger coming in and
out of his deposition? But how would the photographer known which one was
TP? Half the
family probably bears a passing resemblance to those forty year old
photographs of the teenager Pynch and probably a fair number of them are in
his age group.
There was a very interesting article about TRP, Sr. in the Nassau edition of
Newsday on Sunday 7/23 (available on LEXIS). He was quite an accomplished
man in his own right. Pynch's sister Judith was quoted as saying something
like "Speaking for my brother I hope his fame doesn't overshadow the
accomplishments of our father."
