               Maybe I am missing something here, but I did not write
          you a letter. How you wound up with my name, I haven't the
          foggiest idea. Ironically(maybe), I have joined the pynchon
          newsgroup and am in the precoess of trying to figure out
          VINELAND myself. I plan to withhold comment upon that novel
          until I have gone through it three or four times. But, no, I
          was not tryinbg to insult you; nor was I trying to be funny.
          I never wrote you in the first place. Sorry for the mixup.
