Vineland Location

I've been rereading Vineland in part because of a cross-country trip (NYC 
to Eureka, CA and back) last year.  Our purpose was to visit some of the 
more interesting sights in Northern CA and the joke we played was asking 
everyone in Humboldt county about Pynchon.  Anyway, looking at some of 
the earlier messages about where Vineland is supposed to take place, I 
thought most of the places mentioned seemed fat too south-In the 
beginning of Vineland, Zoyd is told on page 6 "why aren't you down in 
Eureka or Arcata.." Eureka and Arcata are much farther north than the 
places mentioned previously.
