baseball redux again

Talk of sexual analogies in baseball lead me to recall a couple
of passages from Samuel Delany's recent (highly literate) porn
novel THE MAD MAN (Masquerade Books). In one incident, two
male characters are about to indulge in public sex on the fringes
of a ball (ha-ha!) field where a game is in progress. The shy
one worries that they'll be noticed. The other more experienced
one replies something like, "Naw, they're too busy playing
baseball. You see, there's two kinds of people in the world, the
ballplayers and us perverts." Interesting TRP-like split.
And then of course Delany goes on to use the terms "pitcher" and
"catcher" as slang for dominant and submissive, a standard
designation I believe.
